Formed in 2009, SubZeroArts is a group of visualists, sound artists, technologists, fabricators, and software engineers working in contemporary art and science. Their work is informed by technology, optical interaction, acoustic imaging, and other disciplines combined to develop unique interactive installations where participants contribute to their own artistic experiences. Since their inception, SubZeroArts have designed and produced several installations that bridge science and art, enabling participation and stimulating thought about how individuals interact with their surroundings.
In SubZeroArts' latest installation, TouchCubes, highly aestheticized cubes are arranged throughout the exhibition space, reacting to movement around them. As viewers approach them, the cubes illuminate and produce soft sounds, inviting viewers to interact with them by touch, perpetuating the sensory act so deeply embedded in our behaviour.
