Artist biography

Merav Svirsky was born in Israel in 1981 and now lives and works in Tel-Aviv as a multidisciplinary artist after graduating from the School of Visual Theater and the MFA program of Bezalel. Her works relate to a wide range of media, including performance, dance, sculpture, installation, drawing, and video, and has been displayed in the Haifa Museum of Art, "Kav 16" Gallery, the 5' Biennale for Drawing in Jerusalem among others. She is the winner of the 2013 Young Artist Award, the 2010 Bezalel Artistic Achievement Award, the 2007 America-Israel Foundation Award and the 2006 Mayor of Jerusalem Award.

Project approach

A drawing traces the flight path of the Common Swift birds. The birds are confined to the pencil lines, following them, not free to choose or to change their direction. The lines enable the viewer to follow the bird's path and find logic in the chaos of their flight.
