Mathieu Valade is from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, in Montérégie. He has been a part of numerous exhibitions in Canada and abroad, most notably his solo exhibitions at Duplex10m2 Gallery in Sarajevo, Latitude 53 Centre in Edmonton AB, at the Circa Centre in Montreal and at Lieu in Québec City. He has also participated in several group events, including the Québec City Biennial and "C'est arrivé près de chez vous" at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec.
Two immense fences made of prisms are erected in the Guy Favreau Complex. The fence, "frost", surrounds the space that we wish to circumvent the right of way: prisons, aeroports, schoolyards, private gardens, etc. It makes up the faces of these two spaces, which consequently become protected; spaces where nothing can happen, where peace and order reign.
