Ein kleines Paradies
Born in 1985 in Trois-Rivieres, Marie-Eve Levasseur obtained her Bachelors Degree in Visual and Media Art at UQAM in 2008. Since then, she has been living and working in Leipzig, Germany. She completed her Masters at Leipzig Fine Arts Academy in 2014.
In Ein kleines Paradies, the artist intends to compare the public and private spheres as well as the methods of evasion that contemporary societies invent in order to escape their daily lives. This atwork reconstructs individual desires by combining an aerial view of the suburbs of Quebec City with their flowery yards and round pools and the small typical fences from Schrebergarten in Germany. On the wall, as the synthesis of the quest for a promised happiness, various shamrocks are presented.
**THIS ATWORK HAS BEEN DAMAGED AND WE HAD TO REMOVE IT FROM THE FESTIVAL. THIS INCIDENT SHOWS THE COMPLEXITY OF HAVING ARTWORKS IN THE PUBLIC SPACE. THE ARTIST AND ART SOUTERRAIN WAS AWARE OF THE RISK IN SUCH CONTEXT.**
