Born in Italy, Leda Montereali lives and works in Montreal. Mostly known for her fashion photography within the multiple award-winning team Leda & St-Jacques. Since 2007 she has worked discreetly but with determination on the creation of her personal projects.
Through her project, Privacy, which was also exhibited at the Biennale of Venice and in the park Emilie-Gamelin in Montreal in 2011, Montereali explores the frontier between the public and private spheres - a boundary that nowadays tends to crumble.
With this series, Montereali shows us houses from Montreal at nightfall. From those illuminated windows we distinguish bits and pieces of interiors, occupied rooms, everyday scenes or family dramas. It is a troubling piece, which turns the viewer into a voyeur, putting them in front of a staging that breaks the boundary of this usually private space.
