Ce n'est pas de l'art, c'est une protestation

Artist biography

Guillermo Trejo is originally from Mexico where he has exhibited widely. Trejo studied at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Etching in Mexico City, where he specialized in printmaking and drawing. He completed his MFA at the University of Ottawa in 2012. In his practice he is interested in exploring issues surrounding social and political art. Guillermo Trejo studied the history of print media and the variety of ways it can be used. For him, posters and prints are much more than simple communication systems, these are mediums that generate ideas, and this is a way for him to broadcast without censorship.

Project approach

On September 26, 2014 a group of students from a rural area in Guerrero, Mexico were attacked by corrupted police officers. Of this group, 43 students have disappeared. Since this time, there has been no news of their whereabouts or any sign of life whatsoever. This is not art this is a protest is a reminder that we have not forgotten. VIVOS SE LOS LLEVARON VIVOS LOS QUEREMOS!
